Support Forum

Every time that you post a problem, PLEASE add the Joomla and the extension's versions and revisions (for example: Joomla 3.3.6, Contact Enhanced 3.3.5), PHP version and Server's Operating System. If you only manage only one site it is easier if you edit your profile and just add that information to your signature. Don't forget to add a detailed description of the problem. If possible, write down all steps to simulate the problem.

Before submitting a new post, PLEASE make sure you are running the latest version, test in different browsers (IE, FF, Chrome,..) and clear Joomla and browser's cache after every change you make.

Also, most questions are already answered in our FAQ and in iFAQ and Contact Enhanced documentation pages.

× Contact Enhanced is a contact component manager created to replace Joomla! core contacts component and add lots of advantages and new features (see Features ) and it offers many plugins and modules for several different purposes,

Front-end editing doesn't work

5 years 10 months ago #24228 by Joomlashack
Hi,

Just purchased Contact Enhanced and front-end editing doesn't work when logged in with a Super User, Publisher, or any other editor. The edit icon doesn't show, even in Protostar.

Thanks

Greetings,

That's odd.
Does the logged in user has Edit Permission? In order to check the Permissions setting please go to Components -> Contact Enhanced, click on the options button, then click on the Permissions tab.

Which Joomla version are you using?

Greetings,

I cannot reproduce this issue locally.
Can you please create a full backup and provide Super Administrator access? You can send the credentials using the Support -> Contact Form.

Hi,

We're not able to for this site since it's an intranet site for a company that requires a non disclosure agreement.

It's not a system plugin either.

The menu item type is "Contact Enhanced -> List All Contact Categories". Does that make a difference?

Expected result: when accessing the contact by going to the menu item, then the category, then the contact, I expect to see an edit icon somewhere for the contact. No edit icon appears.

Thanks,

By "It's not a system plugin either.", I mean that it's not a system plugin causing the issue. We disabled the system plugins to check.

Greetings,

We cannot reproduce this issue locally and neither on our demo website. I understand you cannot provide admin access to your client's site, however with back-end access it will be harder to figure it out this issue. We can sign a non disclosure agreement if required.

It shouldn't make a different, but how does your users sign on? Is it via Joomla default authentication or are you using LDAP or another authentication method?

For curiosity, do your users can edit their own articles as well?

They sign on with the regular Joomla login.

Yes, users can edit articles. ACL has remained standard with what comes with Joomla by default.

By the way, even with a Super User there's no edit icon when viewing a contact (through the category menu item).

Greetings,

Please create a backup, edit /components/com_contactenhanced/views/contact/tmpl/default.php and remove these lines below:
AND !empty($groups) // Make sure the user is assigned to a group
AND $this->contact->user_id > 0	// Contact must be assigned to an user in order to be editable
AND $this->user->id > 1 // Edit link/icon is only visible if user is logged in

I'll send the edited default.php file to your email address as well.

Best regards
