Failed to update contact: Another Contact from this category has the same alias

Hi there,

I realized that frontend registration will fail, if:

1. The plug-in "User - CE Contact Creator" is enabled to automatically create a new contact when a user register AND;
2. Someone register with a name that is same as a previous user;

We will then get the error "Failed to update contact: Another Contact from this category has the same alias";

For example, if we turn on the plug-in, then register as "John Doe". The first John Doe will get registered without any issue, and the contact will be created through the plug-in;

The second person using "John Doe" as the required "Name" field value, will see the error "Failed to update contact: Another Contact from this category has the same alias" after clicking the register button. The Joomla User registration part is done, but the contact won't get created, because it has the same alias.

Could you solve this issue?

I'm working on this requested feature. All contacts must have a unique alias, however I'm still thinking about what to append to alias in order to make it unique. What do you suggest?

Thank you for your fast response. Usually we just add the id to the end of the existing alias and it will ensure that the alias is unique. If there is a security concern for revealing the id, it could be id+35 or something similar.... id is always unique so I think we can take advantage of it?

By the way, we would like to collect information like addresses during user's registration. However, some fields are not available in the Joomla "User Profile" plugin. For example, the profile image uploaded by an user.

Therefore, we want to use the Breezing Form User Registration Package to register and create an user profile. That works great and we can collect all the information we needed. Is there a way to connect Breezing Form with Contact Enhanced contact record creation?

We have never implemented any integration with Breezing Forms.

Contact Enhanced has a "Create Contact" menu item that allows your registered users to create a Contact, however it is not integrated with the Registration form either.
