Support Forum

Every time that you post a problem, PLEASE add the Joomla and the extension's versions and revisions (for example: Joomla 3.3.6, Contact Enhanced 3.3.5), PHP version and Server's Operating System. If you only manage only one site it is easier if you edit your profile and just add that information to your signature. Don't forget to add a detailed description of the problem. If possible, write down all steps to simulate the problem.

Before submitting a new post, PLEASE make sure you are running the latest version, test in different browsers (IE, FF, Chrome,..) and clear Joomla and browser's cache after every change you make.

Also, most questions are already answered in our FAQ and in iFAQ and Contact Enhanced documentation pages.

× Contact Enhanced is a contact component manager created to replace Joomla! core contacts component and add lots of advantages and new features (see Features ) and it offers many plugins and modules for several different purposes,

Map doesn't show after form

1 year 4 months ago #26636 by vonbrink
Hi Douglas,

Somehow we can't get the map to show after the form. We have configured the API, but the only thing that shows is a form field to enter an address. We're currently working on loop.vonbrink.nl/contact/contactgegevens . Could you have a look what's going wrong?

Kind regards,

Willem Vonhof

Dear Vonbrink,

Your map is actually loading correctly but is hidden for some reason. If I remove the overflow:hidden CSS attribute from div.cemap_canvas it displays the map, but it's taking the page's full height and width. Anyway, we cannot modify the div.cemap_canvas style attributes because it is set by Google Maps API and not by Contact Enhanced.

I'm having a hard time trying to figure out why this is happening on your template. It loads correctly on my development server and it also loads correctly on your own site when we load the Component area only. Take a look:
loop.vonbrink.nl/contact/contactgegevens?tmpl=component

I see your site is loading jQuery twice, that is not advised, but it shouldn't cause this problem. However, when we load the component area it loads jQuery only once.

The first time is loading via Google CDN ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/3.6.0/jquery.min.js and the second is using the jQuery file included in Joomla.
Since it's loading via CDN I cannot know for sure which extension is actually adding it. It might be a module, plugin, or even your template. I suspect your template is loading it because it's loaded right after the <head> tag and it loads on all pages.

You can ask your template developer to take a look at it.

I recommend using only the jQuery library included in Joomla in order to avoid problems with other extensions. If you do want to use Google's CDN, then your template should remove all other instances of jQuery from the <head> tag.

Please let me know if removing one of the jQuery instances solves this issue.

Best regards,

Hi Douglas,

Thanks for your reply! We load jQuery in our templates, because we don't use extensions on every page of our websites. To test if the map works without jQuery being loaded twice, we've temporary removed the jQuery load in via Google's CDN, but without success. The map still won't show up after the form.

Could there be something else I'm overlooking?

Kind regards,

Dear Vonbrink,

There was a compatibility issue with your template. Please add the following line to the [path to Joomla]/media/com_contactenhanced/css/contact.css file
.cemap_container{clear:both}

I'll include this line of CSS code in the next release.

Best regards,
