Every time that you post a problem, PLEASE add the Joomla and the extension's versions and revisions (for example: Joomla 3.3.6, Contact Enhanced 3.3.5), PHP version and Server's Operating System. If you only manage only one site it is easier if you edit your profile and just add that information to your signature. Don't forget to add a detailed description of the problem. If possible, write down all steps to simulate the problem.

Before submitting a new post, PLEASE make sure you are running the latest version, test in different browsers (IE, FF, Chrome,..) and clear Joomla and browser's cache after every change you make.

Also, most questions are already answered in our FAQ and in iFAQ and Contact Enhanced documentation pages.

Is there a way to use template's custom.css

8 years 7 months ago #20180 by lmbhssp
Hello,

I want to override default iFAQ css rules. Is there a way I can do it in the custom.css file from the Joomla template I use? Yes, I have read through most of the threads in the forum and seen your suggestions to use custom.css or ifaq.css files in the component folder but that is just not an option for me. I really need to override css rules via template's custom.css file. Is there a way to do it?

Thanks.

Dear lmbhssp,

Yes, it shouldn't be a problem at all, just add the override CSS rules to your custom.css file in your template directory.

Add the same CSS rules to your templates custom.css file that you would add to the custom.css file in iFAQ directory. There's no change.

Let me know if you need any further assistance.

But it does not work. Rules in custom.css always gets overridden by rules in ifaq.css. As you can see in the attached screenshot.

BTW, I am using iFAQ as modules.

Dear lmbhssp,

I see. All you need to do in this case is add a prefix to the CSS rules. For example:
.ifaq.ifaq-tpl-basic .collapse-close{}
.ifaq .ifaq-collapsible{}

Not there there is no space between .ifaq and .ifaq-tpl-basic, however there's a space .ifaq and all other CSS rules.

Another, not so elegant, alternative is to add !important at the end of each property;
