Wow,

That is very very strange, that should not happen and it does not make any sense.

Can you please Install it again to see if it helps?
Does any other page on your site work?
Did you create the backup before uninstalling?

If you cannot fix it, please provide an administrator account so I can take a closer look.
You can send the login details to me using the Support -> Contact form menu link on this site.

Howdy,

it's certainly very interesting. Now that I've uninstalled Moo FAQ entirely, index.php is crashed out entirely. So site is now nonfunctional. It's unfortunate. I currently cannot use the component at all, as my site is nonfunctional.

Interesting: I never assigned anything in Moo FAQ to the front page. It just did a hostile takeover, and upon removal, removed index.php functionality.

index.php, i.e. root of site, is now a 404.

Dear Abstractmachines,

I cannot reproduce this error on my testing base, so it is hard to say what it is.

Did you uninstall MooFAQ? The Uninstall should work now.

I'll send you a new package in a few minutes.

Done, renamed manifest.

Prior to renaming, noticed that

rootsite/index.php = MooFAQ takeover/issues

rootsite/home = no problems

is this a menu assignment issue?

.... still going to update to 1.6.3, but index.php page should be functional before upgrading Joomla.

Still not sure how MooFAQ took over my index.php page. I'm probably doing something wrong.

That's odd. it should not change your index.php.

Please rename
/administrator/manifests/packages/pkg_moofaq.xml
to
/administrator/manifests/packages/pkg_MooFAQ.xml

I'm working on a fix right now for the next version.

Let me know if you need any further assistance.

Thanks Douglas! Yep, I'm trying to upgrade now; getting ready to backup. Moo FAQ took over front page of my site, so in attempts to delete prior to backing up,

-trashed/uninstalled modules/etc

-this crashed front page index.php entirely

-also, error messages: cannot uninstall

serious issues with XML files

see attached
