Configuring the component

In this document, we will show you how to configure an Ideal Podcasts component in a few simple steps.

How to Access

  • Home Dashboard  Components  Ideal Podcasts. Then...
  • Click on the Options Button in the upper right-hand corner

You should see a page with various tabs and options for the component. The options are self-explanatory and we've included many tooltips to help you understand and configure it.

  • Single Episode: These settings apply for episode layouts unless they are changed for a specific menu item or episode.
  • Episodes: These settings apply to every page where a list of episodes is displayed. For example, a category or the episodes page or even the participant's page that shows the episodes the participant took part..
  • Participants: There are several Podcast formats you can use: Solo, Interview, Conversational/co-hosted, panel,... One thing they all have in common is at least one participant. One participant will always be the show host, but you can have multiple hosts and multiple guests. This tab shows the settings for the participant page and the participant in the episode page.
  • Category: These settings apply for Podcasts Category Options unless they are changed by the individual category or menu settings.
  • Categories: These settings apply for Podcasts Categories Options unless they are changed by the individual category or menu settings.
  • Blog Layout: These settings apply for the blog or featured layouts unless they are changed for a specific menu item.
  • List layout: These settings apply for List Layouts Options unless they are changed for a specific menu item or category.
  • Shared: These settings apply for Shared Options in List, Blog, and Featured unless they are changed by the menu settings.
  • Editing Layout: These options control the layout of the episode editing page.
  • Integrations: These settings determine how the Podcast Component will integrate with other extensions.
  • Edit Style: Easily customize the look & feel according to your template. By default, we use Bootstrap CSS rules in order to be compatible with most templates.
  • Podcasts-related settings: These next two tabs are specific to podcasting and the settings can be overridden in the category configuration. This way you can have a different podcast configuration for each category.
    • Podcast Directories: Podcast directories are online platforms that allow podcasters to distribute their shows to a wide audience. They usually provide features such as categorization, search, ratings, reviews, and analytics. Some of the most popular podcast directories are Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, and Stitcher. These settings allow you to display the logo and links to the podcast directories.
    • Podcast RSS Feed: A podcast RSS feed is a file that contains information about a podcast, such as its title, description, episodes, and audio files. A podcast RSS feed allows listeners to subscribe to a podcast and receive new episodes automatically through a podcast app or a web browser. The settings on this page help you to configure your main podcast RSS Feed.
  • Permissions: Permissions for this component

Step 2: Save

Once you have configured the component according to your preferences, you need to save your changes by clicking on the Save or Save & Close button at the top. You should see a message that says "Component saved.

Congratulations! You have successfully configured the component. If you are not satisfied or encounter any issues, you can go back to the component settings and make adjustments until you get it right.
