500 - Layout "contacts" not found

I've just purchased and installed Contacts Enhanced and am experiencing an odd problem with it.

When I create a menu item using Contact Categories/contact Layout or Contact Categories TABLE Layout and select a category to exclude i recieve an error and the page will not display.

500 - Layout "contacts" not found

If I disable SH404SEF (friendly URLs) and do not select any categories to exclude it works correctly. However even with SH404SEF disabled if I exclude any categories I receive a 500 error

If I allow all categories to display and disable SH404SEF I have no problems...

I found a similar thread on the forum where you mentioned that some templates have issues which cause similar errors. I've switched back to the default template included with Joomla and the behavior is identical so I don't think the problem is template related.

Unfortunately this is occurring on a Dev server which is internal only so I don't have a public URL to give you at the moment. I can create one if necessary.

It is hard to know what's exactly wrong if I don't have access to the live site.

I know you've disabled SH404SEF, but does it happen also with Joomla SEF disabled?

Which PHP, CE and Joomla version are you using?

Yes Joomla SEF is disabled

PHP 5.3.3-1ubuntu9.3

Latest version of CE (purchased this morning)

Joomla 1.5.22

I noticed that the URL is not being rewritten properly, it shows

sau-dev.litchfieldsd.org/test.html?layout=contacts

I'm not sure how relevant this is since it doesn't work with or without SH404SEF enabled.

I've tried to access that URL, but it is not loading. Can you please provide another URL?
That looks like a SEF URL and since you have SEF disabled it should not load that string.
Please clear your browser and Joomla cache and try again.

That URL isn't public so it won't work for you.

The URL was produced when SEF was enabled. With SEF disabled the errors are the same.

I've also tried in IE, Firefox and Chrome so I'm fairly sure it isn't a browser or cache issue.

i have the same problem. when i display all categories, there is no problem. when i want to display all but one catergories I get this url 80.245.46.215/index.php?option...out=contacts&Itemid=66&lang=fr and a HTTP-error 500 (Internal Server Error).

Could you contact me to resolve this?

i am using version 1.5.8.6.

Yyou only get the error when a category is excluded. When you just tried all categories are displayed.

I excluded one now so you can try again.

All server generated 500 Internal Server Errors adds a log entry in the Server Error log.

Can you contact your web hosting service provider to find out what error is being logged?
