Every time that you post a problem, PLEASE add the Joomla and the extension's versions and revisions (for example: Joomla 3.3.6, Contact Enhanced 3.3.5), PHP version and Server's Operating System. If you only manage only one site it is easier if you edit your profile and just add that information to your signature. Don't forget to add a detailed description of the problem. If possible, write down all steps to simulate the problem.

Before submitting a new post, PLEASE make sure you are running the latest version, test in different browsers (IE, FF, Chrome,..) and clear Joomla and browser's cache after every change you make.

Also, most questions are already answered in our FAQ and in iFAQ and Contact Enhanced documentation pages.

Contact pages / forms have stopped loading

7 years 2 months ago #22966 by eric
I have a site that uses Contact Enhanced and has been working in the past, but seems that some time over the last 4 months, it has stopped loading the contact page / form. Now it just creates a blank page with the contact's name at the top.

When I turn on error reporting, I get the following error relevant to Contact Enhanced.

Fatal error: Call to a member function get() on a non-object in /templates/rt_chapelco/html/com_contactenhanced/contact/default.php on line 84

The site is located here:
www.amicentral.org

Contacts page is here

Dear Eric,

I see you have a HTML Template override. Can you compare the files below and apply the necessary changes to your customization?
/com_contactenhanced/views/contact/default.php
/templates/rt_chapelco/html/com_contactenhanced/contact/default.php

Best regards,

Douglas,

Thanks for the response. I don't remember making this override, but obviously, I must have and failed to document it.

So I noticed that in the contactenhanced folder, the path is now /com_contactenhanced/views/contact/templ/default.php
and in my override it is /com_contactenhanced/contact/default.php

Also, the default.php file is significantly different, so I think this is due to a conflict with my override default.php file being severely out of date for the newer version of contact enhanced.

So I have now copied all the files in /com_contactenhanced/views/ into my html override folder in /templates/rt_chapelco/html/com_contactenhanced/views/

and I found that what I think I was overriding is the h2 style on the contact name, to make it h3

So I altered line 42 and 46 of the /templates/rt_chapelco/html/com_contactenhanced/views/contact/templ/default.php accordingly, but it doesn't appear to be overriding it.

I'll continue to work on it, but you've solved my problem of a broken contact page! Thank you!
