Every time that you post a problem, PLEASE add the Joomla and the extension's versions and revisions (for example: Joomla 3.3.6, Contact Enhanced 3.3.5), PHP version and Server's Operating System. If you only manage only one site it is easier if you edit your profile and just add that information to your signature. Don't forget to add a detailed description of the problem. If possible, write down all steps to simulate the problem.

Before submitting a new post, PLEASE make sure you are running the latest version, test in different browsers (IE, FF, Chrome,..) and clear Joomla and browser's cache after every change you make.

Also, most questions are already answered in our FAQ and in iFAQ and Contact Enhanced documentation pages.

Making phone numbers 'clickable'

6 years 10 months ago #23327 by VThomas
Used to be, browsers would recognize phone numbers on smart phones and they were 'clickable'. I notice now that is not the case, they are not clickable on mobile as before, and now sometimes users want numbers 'clickable' on their larger devices too. Locally, I have to add an 'a' tag to phone numbers for this, similar to:

<a href="tel:+1-111-222-3333">111-222-3333</a>

I need to update an old site that has ~50 contacts. I thought about using the contacts enhanced component. But, phone numbers are not clickable in the demo. Is this feature (adding a href="tel: ...") available?

Dear VThomas,

Contact Enhanced creates a link for Contact's phone and mobile when the page is viewed from a mobile device.

Best regards,

OK, thanks. Checked on my mobile device and I see that, thank you for that clarification!
For the client I have in mind, they all share the same phone number but have different extensions. I assume I can add a column for the phone extension, then leave the phone field as only a phone number.
What determines which columns are shown in mobile view? Can I select the columns for that? Sincerely, Vicky
