Every time that you post a problem, PLEASE add the Joomla and the extension's versions and revisions (for example: Joomla 3.3.6, Contact Enhanced 3.3.5), PHP version and Server's Operating System. If you only manage only one site it is easier if you edit your profile and just add that information to your signature. Don't forget to add a detailed description of the problem. If possible, write down all steps to simulate the problem.

Before submitting a new post, PLEASE make sure you are running the latest version, test in different browsers (IE, FF, Chrome,..) and clear Joomla and browser's cache after every change you make.

Also, most questions are already answered in our FAQ and in iFAQ and Contact Enhanced documentation pages.

Shows 403 Error No Matter What

5 years 2 weeks ago #24996 by jgribble
Hello, Douglas. This is a new one. I have a site nearing completion at whitewater-marine.com . Latest version Joomla and CE. Native Joomla contact works just fine. CE not. No matter what I try, when I create a menu item and hook up a CE contact, get a 403 off-limits message. This despite:
Menu access is public.
Contact access is public.
All contact content is public.
Fetch Boostrap is turned off.
Got API, map works in back end.
Because all settings look good, and there's nothing wrong with core Joomla contact, I thought I would ask if you have run into this before, which I'm sure you have. I've tried multiple things including making my contact featured and displaying featured contacts in the menu item. It just says, "No Contacts to Display." Even though there is a featured contact to display. So something isn't right.
I also did make sure all plugins are turned on and working.
Brand new up-to-date Joomlart template. All-new up-to-date components.
Am happy to share temporary login.
Thank you as always,
-Jim Gribble

I continued to play with it and got it to work. I think maybe the cause was that I needed to create at least one category and assign my contact to it. Not sure what else I could have done that would have mattered. But since we're at least published, I hope I can do the rest of the tuning on my own.

Dear Jim,

Not having a category would cause this behavior. In fact, you should not be able to save the contact without a category.
I have just tried to save the contact without a category and it didn't let me, so I'm not sure what might have happened, but I'm glad it is solved.

Have a blessed week.
