Every time that you post a problem, PLEASE add the Joomla and the extension's versions and revisions (for example: Joomla 3.3.6, Contact Enhanced 3.3.5), PHP version and Server's Operating System. If you only manage only one site it is easier if you edit your profile and just add that information to your signature. Don't forget to add a detailed description of the problem. If possible, write down all steps to simulate the problem.

Before submitting a new post, PLEASE make sure you are running the latest version, test in different browsers (IE, FF, Chrome,..) and clear Joomla and browser's cache after every change you make.

Also, most questions are already answered in our FAQ and in iFAQ and Contact Enhanced documentation pages.

× Contact Enhanced is a contact component manager created to replace Joomla! core contacts component and add lots of advantages and new features (see Features ) and it offers many plugins and modules for several different purposes,

Template fields

10 months 2 weeks ago #26951 by tapiochre
Because CE for J4 needs the templates to be rebuilt (sad face), I have looked at the J3 table based format and moved a copy to the J4 template system, removing the fields as I did and re-inserting the core fields from the field chooser.

The field I cannot find is "Message". is this the {form_fields} field?

My forms are simlple but no matter what I put in the template, I cannot get it to output the message in the received email!

NOTE: This site was migrated from J3 to J4 using MIGRATEME4 which has caused other issues with CE.

Dear Chris,

The syntax/short code {form_fields} should display all fields, including the message field. Alternatively, you can display only a selected form field using the syntax {form_fields:field-alias}

If the problem persists, please let me know the Field TYPE so that I can test it locally, or better yet, export the Form Field and send it to me so I can test it.

Yeah, I tried these but nothing was bring output.

In this case I’m confident that when this site was migrated to J4 using the problematic MigrateMe4 component (we’ve touched on it before) the messages table was screwed up and was not correctly inserted into the J4 build.

I’ve raised a query with the MM4 team to ask them for guidance.

Thanks for your clarity and speed of response!

Dear C,

I don't think this is due to MM4, that's why I have asked for the Form Field. You can export the form field by selecting it and clicking on Tools > Export Toolbar item.

Thanks Douglas.

Well, it does get slightly more unusual because on the site in question, when a contact form is submitted, not only is the message not passed on in the template, if I look in the Recorded Messages panel and inspect the message in question, the Original Message page is blank.

I have exported the form fields as suggested and will send them to buy separate email.

Best wishes
Chris
