Every time that you post a problem, PLEASE add the Joomla and the extension's versions and revisions (for example: Joomla 3.3.6, Contact Enhanced 3.3.5), PHP version and Server's Operating System. If you only manage only one site it is easier if you edit your profile and just add that information to your signature. Don't forget to add a detailed description of the problem. If possible, write down all steps to simulate the problem.

Before submitting a new post, PLEASE make sure you are running the latest version, test in different browsers (IE, FF, Chrome,..) and clear Joomla and browser's cache after every change you make.

Also, most questions are already answered in our FAQ and in iFAQ and Contact Enhanced documentation pages.

Missing menu item types from J4 version

9 months 1 week ago #26988 by wpalagi
Hello, it seems that the menu voice type "list all categories and all contacts inside them", which was in the J3 version and would generate a link like the following one:

index.php?option=com_contactenhanced&view=categories&layout=contacts&id=XYZ

...is gone from the J4 version. The implementation seems to be in components/com_contactenhanced/views/categories/tmpl/contacts.php basically this menu item type would let me pick a root category and it would display all of the sub-categories in separate tables.

How do I achieve the same result in the J4 version?

Thanks

Dear wpalagi,

I'm sorry about the delayed reply. We don't work on weekends.

Contact Enhanced has been completely rewritten for Joomla 4 and we had decided to keep this menu item out of Joomla 4 implementation because it was incompatible with mobile-first approach. I'm working on a way to implement and improve it, but it might take a couple of days before it's ready.

Best regards,

Sorry, what I wrote came out too strong, I didn't mean it that way. So can I proceed assuming that it will be released within days? I just need to know the timeframe (days, or weeks, or months) so that I can adjust the project accordingly. I'm migrating a customer from J3 to J4.

Thanks

No worries! ;-)

I'm working on it and it should be finished, tested, and ready for production in two days.

Dear wpalagi,

I've implemented the requested feature. Keep in mind that it now is designed with the mobile-first approach, so it will look a bit different from the previous version.

The new menu item type is "List First Level Categories and Contacts".

Best regards,
