Support Forum

Every time that you post a problem, PLEASE add the Joomla and the extension's versions and revisions (for example: Joomla 3.3.6, Contact Enhanced 3.3.5), PHP version and Server's Operating System. If you only manage only one site it is easier if you edit your profile and just add that information to your signature. Don't forget to add a detailed description of the problem. If possible, write down all steps to simulate the problem.

Before submitting a new post, PLEASE make sure you are running the latest version, test in different browsers (IE, FF, Chrome,..) and clear Joomla and browser's cache after every change you make.

Also, most questions are already answered in our FAQ and in iFAQ and Contact Enhanced documentation pages.

× Contact Enhanced is a contact component manager created to replace Joomla! core contacts component and add lots of advantages and new features (see Features ) and it offers many plugins and modules for several different purposes,

How to install?

13 years 9 months ago #3215 by tony
On trying to install the .tar file I receive the following msg...

Warning: fopen(\tmp/gzip4c30b0b6b790a) [function.fopen]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/baiyokef/public_html/libraries/joomla/filesystem/file.php on line 240

Do I have to do something different to install this component? Is there any documentation please?

Thanks

Dear Tony,

Tar files are native from Unix/Linux and it should open without any problem.

That's very odd. Does this error happens only when you try to install Contact Enhanced or does it happens when you try to install other components as well?

This might be a directory permission issue.

Please watch this screencast. It is for an older version (Captcha is now installed automatically), but you will see how to check for the directory permissions:

More screencasts are available here:

Please do not hesitate to let me know if the problem persists.

Hi, thanks for the quick email,

I can install other components fine, i have checked the directory permissions and all are set to writable except the following

Log Directory ($log_path) \logs/ Unwritable
Temp Directory ($tmp_path) \tmp/ Unwritable

Could these be causing the problem?

Thanks

Dear Tony,

Yes, that's could be it.
In the installation procedure the files are uploaded to /tmp, unpacked and then installed into your system.

In Joomla Global Configuration make sure you set the Path to Temp-folder under the Server tab to [Path to Joomla]/tmp. Then make sure it is writable.

Under some Joomla installs it is set automatically to /tmp.

If you don't know how to make it writable you might be able to do that using a FTP client or you might have to contact your Web hosting service provider.

If you need any further assistance, please let me know.

Dear Tony,

I'm glad you managed to install. ;-)

The image directory is the default Joomla image directory (images/stories/), however you can change it to whatever you want.
Go to Contact Enhanced -> Configuration and enter a existing directory in the "Image path".
The path should be relative to the Joomla installation.

Hi,

Sorry I was not very clear in the previous message!

I have loaded the image that I want but to use but that image is appearing in the top right of the page .

I have attached two links the first link is how my contact us page currently looks prior to using your module

Ideally i want it to look the same with a bit of extra text and extra field or so which i have already added. I am very interested in seeing the senders IP address which i is why I bought your component.

Your component layout

Also how is the best way to line the image (black Bangkok fashion) in the same way and add msn and Skype images and addresses please?

Thanks again for the prompt customer service!

Tony

Dear Tony,

For some reason there is no link in the post, but I got one link in the email.

As for the image you can add it to the Contact Enhanced -> Contact: Sidebar and set the Advanced Parameter "Show sidebar" to "Left" and "Sidebar width" to "25%".

As for the Skype and MSN links, I have not added these links, however you can copy the output of the previous form to the "Info (Miscellaneous)".

Best regards,
