Support Forum

Every time that you post a problem, PLEASE add the Joomla and the extension's versions and revisions (for example: Joomla 3.3.6, Contact Enhanced 3.3.5), PHP version and Server's Operating System. If you only manage only one site it is easier if you edit your profile and just add that information to your signature. Don't forget to add a detailed description of the problem. If possible, write down all steps to simulate the problem.

Before submitting a new post, PLEASE make sure you are running the latest version, test in different browsers (IE, FF, Chrome,..) and clear Joomla and browser's cache after every change you make.

Also, most questions are already answered in our FAQ and in iFAQ and Contact Enhanced documentation pages.

useing ajax contact to replace the joomla contact

14 years 4 months ago #1643 by ksfoodie
I just purchased Ajax Contact and I am totally baffled! I purchased this to replace my current contact page which is a menu page using the joomla contact form. I wanted to get rid of the insecure joomla contact and replace it with Ajax Contact using captcha.

I installed Ajax Contact and enabled it and now I cannot even find it in the plugins list. I went to my menu page and then to the page type to edit and replace the joomla contact form with the Ajax Contact but it is not listed there.

I am completely lost. I should tell you that I've had joomla running for just a few days now so I am also a complete noob at it. Nevertheless, I dont know what I'm missing or what I need to do here. Help would be appreciated.

Dear Mike,

First of all you need to now that there are five types of extensions for Joomla!: Components, Modules, Plugins, Templates, and Languages. Each of these extensions handle specific functionality. You might want to read this Article: docs.joomla.org/Joomla!_Extensions_Defined

Ajax Contact is a module, therefore you need to look at the module manager:
Admin head menu > “Extensions” > “Module Manager”
More info here: docs.joomla.org/Screen.modules.15

The only extension type that allows you to add a menu item is the component; For that you might want to try Contact Enhanced:
ideal.fok.com.br/joomla/extens...omponent-contact-enhanced.html

There is also a the possibility to include a module inside an article using the "Content - Load Module" plugin;

If you have any further questions do not hesitate to ask.

Kind regards,

Ok, but since I've already purchased contact, how do I upgrade to Ajax Contact Advanced?

I have read the documents mentioned but I will re-read them. I'm finding Joomla to be incredibly powerful but also incredibly confusing at times. Please let me know how to move up to the enhanced version and I will do that right away, and thank you for the fast response.

I've re-read the the difference between components, modules, plugins etc. I have a light grasp of what they are and the relationship between them, but obviously not enough.

All I wanted to do is to replace my currennt contact page www.thekansasfoodie.com/contact with a more secure contact form and this is why I chose yours. I've spent a couple of hours going over the ajax contact module and tyring to figure out how to get this module used when someone clicks on my contact link from the main menu. I'm missing that and the joomla docs aren't helping at all.

I've also spent part of this morning reading a book on joomla but there is obviously something here that I'm not grasping.
