Support Forum

Every time that you post a problem, PLEASE add the Joomla and the extension's versions and revisions (for example: Joomla 3.3.6, Contact Enhanced 3.3.5), PHP version and Server's Operating System. If you only manage only one site it is easier if you edit your profile and just add that information to your signature. Don't forget to add a detailed description of the problem. If possible, write down all steps to simulate the problem.

Before submitting a new post, PLEASE make sure you are running the latest version, test in different browsers (IE, FF, Chrome,..) and clear Joomla and browser's cache after every change you make.

Also, most questions are already answered in our FAQ and in iFAQ and Contact Enhanced documentation pages.

Cant display ÅÄÖ?

14 years 3 months ago #1890 by delit
Hey

Great extension.

* I can't display the letters ÅÄÖ in my contact form, any solutions?

* And one more thing. How do I change the width on the contact form?

Version:
mod_ajax_contact_1.5.6.7__100108_1337

Thanks
Adam

Dear Adam,

I've just tested and it works correctly with ÅÄÖóãõè and many other characters; I'm Brazilian and we use some of those chars, so it is one of the first things I test when I develop an extension;

Have you changed your database collation?
Make sure it is utf8_general_ci;

In order to change the styling please read the 3rd FAQ item:
ideal.fok.com.br/table/faq/ajax-contact-faq/

Change the attribute width in the #ajaxcontact input.inputbox rule;

Kind regards,

Dear Adam,

I don't what you to change I just want you to make sure it is utf8_general_ci;
Do you have access to PHPMyAdmin?

A easy way to check is after you login and select the database look at the Collation column;

I'm kind of sure that the datebase support utf8_general_ci;
Don't have any problems with other extensions, like eventlist etc.

Here's the site (under construction):

Dear Adam,

Now I see where the problem lies;
You've changed the charset of the language file;
can you revert to UTF-8? Which editor did you use? Some editors change this automatically;
If you are not sure how to accomplish this using your editor, get the language file from the extension package (zip file) and translate it again, this time using a simple text editor.
I use Eclipse under Linux and I set the default charset to UTF-8; If you use Windows and don't want to install eclipse you can try Notepad++ or PHPEditor;

If you have any further question, please do not hesitate to ask;

Kind regards,

Thanks. Now it works like a charm.
I used Notepad++ and then convert the format to UTF-8

Dear Adam,

I'm glad you got it working now!

I made this Carbon Copy feature as a custom work for another customer; It allows your users to add another email address to get a copy of the sent message;
