Support Forum

Every time that you post a problem, PLEASE add the Joomla and the extension's versions and revisions (for example: Joomla 3.3.6, Contact Enhanced 3.3.5), PHP version and Server's Operating System. If you only manage only one site it is easier if you edit your profile and just add that information to your signature. Don't forget to add a detailed description of the problem. If possible, write down all steps to simulate the problem.

Before submitting a new post, PLEASE make sure you are running the latest version, test in different browsers (IE, FF, Chrome,..) and clear Joomla and browser's cache after every change you make.

Also, most questions are already answered in our FAQ and in iFAQ and Contact Enhanced documentation pages.

Was working but now just get the spinning wheel

The Ajax Contact module was working before on my website but is not now. Someone contacted me a few days ago to say they could not get the form to work. I installed the new version to see if that helped. I like the new features, but when I enter the info all I get is a spinning wheel. Any suggestions?

Dear Elmasphx,

That's the first time that I've seen this behavior. JURI::root() is getting the wrong path.
Can you please try the following fix?
1- open [Joomla]/modules/mod_ajax_contact/helper.php
2- Look for JURI::root() and change for JURI::base();

Technically it should not make any difference, however technically JURI::root() should already be getting the correct path.

Please let me know the outcome.

Applied the fix but appears to be doing the same thing. Any other suggestions?

Dear Emasphx,

I can only think about two possible solutions:
1- Disable the Ajax Feature. Go to the Ajax Contact -> Module Parameters, set the Is Ajax Contact working correctly? to No and set Use Ajax to No; or
2- You can hard code the URL by changing the JURI::root() for your site's URL ( www.lightpreneur.com )

I'll keep looking for a better solution.

I tried Step # 2 and the page just showed blank. Not sure if I did it right.

Step #1 is working. The form submitted and i received the email. Is that going to create any other problems? Will the Captcha still work right?

Thanks for your help, Elmas

Dear Elmas,

The only disadvantage of step #1 is that the Ajax Feature will not work. All other features will work.

I forgot to mention (option #3):
Set Use Ajax to Yes and Site Domain starting with http:// www.
This should work.

Dear Furqan,

This might be related to a permission issue. Please make sure that [Joomla]/modules/mod_ajax_contact/ajax.php is writable.

If the error persists, please check the error log and let me know what is happening.
Internal Server Errors always add an entry to the error log and you might need to contact you web hosting service provider in order to view this log.

Thanks Douglas for the quick reply.

The permission previously was 644, I changed it to 777 but still it doesn't work.

There is nothing in the error log.

First, when I install the module, I get the spinning wheel and nothing happens. Please see this for explanation:
www.indianafamilytherapy.com/

If I disable and then enable the module, then the Internal Server Error occurs. For example, please visit:
www.indianapoliscounseling.net/

Please help! Need to solve this as soon as possible.

Thanks very much.

Best Regards,
Furqan

Dear Furqan,

In both cases there is a 500 Internal Server Error, however you when the ajax feature is enabled you don''t see the error.

This might not be related to File permissions, however some servers requires specific file permissions, like 755, for example.

On Apache servers Internal Server Erros are always logged somewhere. Please ask your web hosting provider which error is this and they will be able to tell you. They might be even able to fix it.
