Support Forum

Every time that you post a problem, PLEASE add the Joomla and the extension's versions and revisions (for example: Joomla 3.3.6, Contact Enhanced 3.3.5), PHP version and Server's Operating System. If you only manage only one site it is easier if you edit your profile and just add that information to your signature. Don't forget to add a detailed description of the problem. If possible, write down all steps to simulate the problem.

Before submitting a new post, PLEASE make sure you are running the latest version, test in different browsers (IE, FF, Chrome,..) and clear Joomla and browser's cache after every change you make.

Also, most questions are already answered in our FAQ and in iFAQ and Contact Enhanced documentation pages.

Disable MooFAQ for search

14 years 7 months ago #1131 by tigu
Hello,
I just purchased and i have two little question:
1. It is a way the search results to not include the terms from MooFAQ articles, sections and category? Also, i don`t want the google index this MooFAQ categories/sections/arcticles.
2. When an author want to submit an article in Joomla 1.5, in the editor page, he must select a section then a category where his article will appear, right? Well, i dont want the MooFAQ sections and categories to show up on that dropdown list and i need to know if there is a way to do that.

Thank you for your time!

Regards

Dear Tiguan,

MooFAQ uses the same database for articles, therefore it is not possible to remove it from the search results and not even to remove it's sections and categories from the dropdowns in the article submission page, unless, of course, if you hack some Joomla core files.

I've changed the file attached so it will tell Google and other Search Engines to do not index these MooFAQ pages. Please unpack and upload the file attached to [Joomla]/components/com_moofaq/

Thank you for incredible fast replay and for attached files!
Now, sincerly, do you think it is normal that users have the ability to submit articles on MooFAQ sections and category?:)
Anyway, how much will cost me some hacks to remove MooFAQ from the search results and remove it's sections and categories from the dropdowns in the article submission page? I am ready to pay for this...

Dear Tiguan,

I've never been question about that before. I guess it really depends on your business model.

I believe it would take from one to two hours tops, in order to hack these files. For custom work, please use this contact form: ideal.fok.com.br/contact/support-center.html

1 to 2 hours? It's been a week now Douglas!

I would like to second Tiguans request about preventing users to add articles to the FAQ section.

It is the kind of thing that gets added to over time. Someone asks admin the Q, admin soves the Q and replies with an A and then this can be added to the FAQ.

Well that's my theory anyway, for what it's worth.

Dear Pete,

Tiguan contact me by email and it is already done. I cannot release the hacks to the public because he has done a lot of other hacks to Joomla Core files also.

I've also created a search plugin to prevent MooFAQ contents or any other content, category or section to show in searches. I can publish on my site if you are interested.
