Support Forum

Every time that you post a problem, PLEASE add the Joomla and the extension's versions and revisions (for example: Joomla 3.3.6, Contact Enhanced 3.3.5), PHP version and Server's Operating System. If you only manage only one site it is easier if you edit your profile and just add that information to your signature. Don't forget to add a detailed description of the problem. If possible, write down all steps to simulate the problem.

Before submitting a new post, PLEASE make sure you are running the latest version, test in different browsers (IE, FF, Chrome,..) and clear Joomla and browser's cache after every change you make.

Also, most questions are already answered in our FAQ and in iFAQ and Contact Enhanced documentation pages.

Align related article items properly

8 years 10 months ago #19645 by lovedigit
Hello IE,

I am a new customer, just purchased the extension from this website. Got 6 months subscription, but most likely I will renew it if it keeps providing great support and keep this product updated and adding new improved features. FIrst of all I would like to mention that, I really liked this extension and It serves my purpose really well.

However, I have few issues that I would like to discuss about and hopefully get them sorted.

First of all, my related article items are not properly aligned. I know it can be fixed with simple css code override. I want them to appear as 2 rows and 2 columns, rather than showing them in a single column. At the same time I also want it to be in a single column (just as it is right now) when it is loaded in mobile phones.

example - digitfreak.com/review/gadgets/...x-series-of-bluetooth-speakers

Secondly, not all articles are showing related articles section at the bottom of the articles.
Very few of them has related article section at the bottom of the articles (I have selected "after content" option in related article tab).

See this for example - digitfreak.com/technology/2695...n-c-type-usb-unveiled-by-apple

Dear lovedigit,

Thanks for providing the links. It helps me to debug and find the problem.

1. Please open:
/components/com_irelated/assets/css/ira.css
find:
.ira-container.row-fluid [class*="span"]{margin-left:0.9%}
and replace it with:
.ira-container.row-fluid [class*="span"]{margin-left:0}

2. How did you configure the Plugin Mode option? Manual, Tags, Meta Keywords OR mixed?
Does this article have related articles? I noticed this article doesn't have Meta Keywords.

Best regards,

Hello douglas,

I didn't expect to get a response this quick. I am surprised. :)

Is there some override css code that I can insert in custom.css that my template loads? Modifying this plugin's core file means I will have to do it again after the next update.

For the second question, I have selected "mixed" option. I recently moved to Joomla 3, and previous articles misses tags. and I used third party plugin to add meta keywords and meta description to articles which doesn't have one. but, I don't use that plugin anymore because it slowed down my website.

Is it necessary to have keywords or tags in the article to make this work? If I enable "Auto Generate Meta Keywords" option in your plugin, will it work?

I have a question in my mind, what is "Onsave" and "Onpageload" ? Also, will it add the keywords in my database? or it is dynamic?

Also, can you add an option to search for intro image, and if intro image is not found search for first <img> tag. Because not all my articles has image in content body and old articles don't have intro image. :(

It would be a huge help and great addition to this awesome plugin.

Dear lovedigit,

1. I have changed that in the source code for the next version, so you are safe to change that directly to the /components/com_irelated/assets/css/ira.css file;

2. It is not necessary to use Tags or Keywords, you can also use the Manual mode which is where you manually add related articles. You can add the related articles right at Article edit page OR you can go to Components -> Ideal Related Articles -> Articles and assign your related articles;
2.1 If the "Auto Generate Meta Keywords" option is enabled it will create the Meta keywords automatically for you based on your content.
The OnSave option will generate the Meta Keywords when the article is saved (back-end); Ideal if you don't want to manually add the meta keywords.
The OnPageLoad will generate the Meta Keywords when the page loads. This option might come handy when you have many articles without meta keywords.
All options will only generate the meta Keywords in case the Meta Keywords field is empty and store them in the database, so it won't have to generate on every page load;

3. I'm implementing the requested feature and it will be available in the next version, which I'll release within the next one or two weeks.

I enabled onPageload for automatic meta keywords and related articles are now showing. I appreciate your quick response and taking requests from your customers. :)

I will be waiting for the next update, without it my website looks weird. Some related articles has images and some of them don't. :/

Dear lovedigit,

I have sent a new package to you with this new feature. I still have some other changes to finish before I can release this new version, but it is safe to use on a production/live server.

Hello douglas,

I have uploaded the new package on the website, but unfortunately when I choose "any" no image appears. It only shows title of the article.

Also I would like to mention that the ideal order to search for image would be intro text, full text and <img> tag. Because Intro text is used for targeted thumbnails to introduce articles.

Dear lovedigit,

There was an issue with getting the image from the article text when the option was set to Any. I've fixed it and sent to your email address.

The search I implemented is the same one you suggested. ;-)

Best regards

Hello douglas,

Unfortunately, it is still not working. When I select Any, it only shows title of the article. The search algorithm is not looking for next section to extract images?

I have set it to <img> tag again.

See screenshots

When I select Any:

When I select first <img> tag

Dear lovedigit,

That's odd. I have just tested on my development server and it is working properly here.
Are you sure you've uploaded the file I sent to you to the correct location?

If the problem persists, please create a full backup and provide Administrator and FTP access, so I can take a closer look. You can just reply to the new post notification email OR use the Support -> Contact Form;
